Not to mention they use a spray and low oxygen levels to store it for months on end before it gets to your plate.

Not to mention they use a spray and low oxygen levels to store it for months on end before it gets to your plate.

This has been going on for years , its all about the mighty dollar , and the degree of use by all growers and their honesty.

We know the Major stores do it for profit , jeez we dont even know where half of it comes from , eg: South America to New Zealand to AU then its sold as - Product Of Australia , this way they Bypass all the Laws or slightly within the rules.{ Read The Labels }.

All our good Fruit and Veges go overseas , and then we import the crap none the wiser or really care , thats why our Fruit Growers are dying off and plouging everything back into the ground because they cant sell it at a viable cost to survive.

I buy what i can locally and trusted to be Aussie Made and profits stay here , but majority dont as its a cost factor , so im doing my bit but its not enough if we all dont do it.

I remember a coupe of years ago Australian Tiger Prawns being sold as Australian Product at Vic Market Melb @ $29:00 a Kilo , only to discover they were imported from Vietnam { Farmed } , so theres the first problem to recitify , they were fined , but will continue until caught again and in the meantime still make huge profits by lying to consumers.

Anyways no real solution when money is a factor , otherwise grow your own vege`s and Go Fishing.
