i5 used for basic office work hangs, freezes and is very slow

Hello folks My i5 1.7 GHzAsus used to be light speed fast. Now it hangs, freezes and crashes on even the basics of tasks, some times the hang/freeze is minute+. Here are few examples:

- Skype freezes and stalls even on basic tasks like answering a call or clicking on a contact 
- Opening Explorer and browsing files, searching for files right clicking for contextual menu etc 
- Excel, Word and other office basic functionality
- Browsing in chrome or chrome startup is very slow
- Windows login is much slower than it used to be (both boot and the time it takes for OS to become responsive after the startup)
- Facebook, Youtube and other very responsive major websites some times take very long time to load and freeze giving me the wait or kill option in Chrome.

As a comparison I've got an AMD A6 2.70 GHz desktop who I had for roughly the same period of time and used to be slower than the i5 Laptop, is much faster now.

I've tried the Malware etc angle with folks here but it didn't really help much.

Your UEFI/BIOS (version K56CA.206) dates from 2012.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  If you are able to install the update through Windows (without booting from an external drive), then go ahead and update it.  WARNING - if the computer might shut down during this procedure, please don't do it, as this may physically damage the computer and prevent it from booting.

You only have 1.06 gB of available Physical Memory (RAM).
Please get more memory if the system is able to handle it.
While waiting to upgrade the memory, please:
- only use one program at a time
- go through your startup items and stop those that aren't essential from loading with Windows

Please double check for any new Windows Updates.  It only takes one update to cause a problem, so it's essential that you have all of them.  The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen both dtsoftbus01.sys and dtscsibus.sys blamed on several occasions).

Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration):  New link (15 Aug 2012):  http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).

NOTE:  The uninstaller may not find the SPTD.sys driver.  Don't worry about it, just let us know in your post.
NOTE2:  The latest version has an SPTD2.sys driver - the uninstaller is on the same page as the SPTD.sys driver - just download the version for W10!

When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location. (By default it'll be a .zip file located on your Desktop)
