Hey, new here.  I really need help with hotmail.  Almost every time I open an email message, in any folder, I also get a smaller pop-up window showing the same email on top of it.  How do I get rid of this?  Started happening after Outlook's latest update, I think.  MSN staff online-chats didn't help, and couldn't find any info on it in hotmail settings.  I have Windows 7 desktop at home, and use Windows XP desktop at work, both of which I check my emails on.

Maybe preview pane?

On the View tab, in the Layout group, click Reading Pane, and then click RightBottom, or Off.

Founds Layout and View, but Reading Pane says:

***

Choose where the reading pane should appear.

[circle dot choice] Show reading pane on the right

[circle dot choice] Show reading pane at the bottom

[circle dot choice] Hide reading pane (already selected)

Choose what happens when you move or delete an item.

[circle dot choice] Open the previous item

[circle dot choice] Open the next item

[circle dot choice] Return to the view (already selected)

Choose whether to write email messages in the reading pane or a new window.

[circle dot choice] Type in the reading pane

[circle dot choice] Type in a new window

When signing in:

[circle dot choice] Select the first message in the list (greyed out)

[circle dot choice] Let me select the message to read first (greyed out, but selected)

***

I think you misunderstand.  When I open an email message in hotmail, a smaller pop-up window (like done with spam) comes up, also showing the email.  I just want to go back and just read and respond to emails normally on my one email internet page, instead of having to close the pop-up window before dealing with the message right.  Would it help if I posted the URL to the pop-up?

The hotmail pop-up window URL is: https://outlook.live.com/owa/projection.aspx

I thought this was happening in Outlook? Did you mean Outlook.com the website and not the email client? If so, I know nothing about the website, only the program.

To try to explain the situation better:

1) I sign into Outlook.com.

2) Open an email in any folder.

3) The message will show up normally, usually along with a smaller pop-up internet window of the same email, with the email-site URL I referenced above it, like a layer in photoshop.

4) I can close the pop-up window, and the actual account email page below it is still up to do whatever with.

Please help.

Evie23: I got a reply notification via email about you posting a reply to this early this morning, but don't see it now.  You mean to say to just ignore the dual-email window problems, as they'll be solved eventually?

Rodimus_2316, you will not get a reply from Evie23

The post did not contain anything useful; in fact what was said was a copy/paste from an article published in 2013 and has no bearing now. The only purpose for that copy/paste was an attempt to legitimize the post.

The post was removed since it contained the URL of a remote tech support website and that is considered spam here at Bleeping Computer. Evie23 was banned as a spammer. The site linked to an independent technical service company.

You can ignore anything that post stated.

Can you post a screenshot of what you see?

If so, look at the screenshot closely, and if needed edit it so it will not show actual email addresses?

The pop-up window URL you posted does not help, since it goes to the log in page where I can sign in to my msn mail account.

The post was removed since it contained the URL of a remote tech support website and that is considered spam here at Bleeping Computer.

Not to side track thread, but is any remote support allowed/suggested on this forum?

As for issue, I didn't post anything after my outlook.com vs Outlook query because I don't know much about the site, only the client. From some google-fu my guess is perhaps a bug with older browsers accessing OWA type email applications. Try the Light version?

+1 Screenshot along with description of how your selecting the email. Double clicking? ::edit:: See here on how to insert a image.
