My Macafee isn't working. What can I get (free) to replace it

Macafee quit workings because I had it on my Cox. It came free with it as long as I was using it. I had some problems so I took it off. Then tried to put it back on again. But it didn't work. Cox has tried to give me advise but it never seems to work.

I put on the Microsoft security Essentials on the machine. It seems t be working now. Is the anything else that I should get to add on to it?

Define "not working". Do you mean expired, or something else?

Avast, Avira, and Microsoft Security Essentials are some of the best known free AVs.

On the topic of free AVs, there are also the options of Sophos Home or BitDefender Free Edition. Both are effective, simple to use and do not nag users.
