Is there a yellow exclamation mark next to Network Adapters in Device Manager?

Here is the support page for the computer. It looks like the only drivers available are for Windows Server.

Right click the Device with the yellow exclamation mark. Select Properties. Under the Details tab select Hardware IDs in the dropdown box. Copy and Paste the first line in your next post.

This is the only HP driver I could find and I am not sure it will work. I would at least create a System Restore Point before installing it.

If that driver does not work then you will need to purchase a USB to Ethernet adapter but because the computer only has USB 2.0 you will not be able to get gigabit speeds.

The only drivers Broadcom offers for that chipset is Vista and later.

It is a BCM5722. Try to find a XP driver for this chipset. It may even be from another company. I will continue to look but I think your best bet is to purchase the USB to Ethernet adapter.
