You can download it from the Windows Update Catalog website (you can only access it in Internet Explorer, and need to install the ActiveX component for it).

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/

Edit: SP2 on the Windows Update Catalog:

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=7477af62-8f9b-4f32-9daf-7ab452e52396

I searched for "windows xp service pack 2".

You should install the latest Service Pack for Windows XP, which was SP3, since it also contains the SP2.

You need to add that update to your "cart", and then proceed to "check it out" to download the update.

Once done you need to go on the main Windows Update Catalog website (linked above) and click on Show bastket in the top right corner, and you'll be able to download it.

Anybody know a reliable place to download SP2 for Windows XP Home?

Microsoft has begun deleting many older software packages from their servers, in a desperate attempt to discourage us from using old operating systems.

Fortunately, these links can be accessed simply by plugging the original link into the WayBack Machine, aka Internet Archive.

Please see my link here for more extensive information. I've even posted the links for Windows 2000 and Internet Explorer 7 and 8 as well:
