So after installing paint tool sai on my computer, it continued to install a bunch of other things that I didn't want.  I panicked and shut off my computer. Upon turning it on again a screen appeared with a blue window prompting me to enter a product key along with a customer support phone number (which I googled microsoft's actual phone number and they said the this number was fake) and a few options like teamviewer, task manager, and explorer. We were able to get to control panel and start a system restore. It stopped on a blue screen saying the PC ran into a problem and needed to restart and was collecting error info, but it never restarted. Anyone have a better method of restoring my computer without me having to spend $165 for Microsoft to fix it?

I know it sounds absurdly basic, but try simply unplugging it and re plugging it.

This is a new scam/infection.  It replaces the shell (normally explorer.exe) with another shell.

Here's an article on it:  https://blog.malwarebytes.org/cybercrime/2016/05/tech-support-scammers-using-winlogon/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social

I'd suggest posting over in the Am I Infected forum for more expert assistance:    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
