Does your motherboard support UEFI? Probably not and it that case you are limited with PCI Express 2.0 graphic cards.

Motherboard UEFI BIOS is generally required for PCI Express 3.0 graphic cards.

This computer does not have the UEFI firmware.

The GeForce GT 640 is backward compatible to as far back as PCI-E 16x v1.

PCI Express 3.0 Support

Designed for the PCI Express 3.0 bus architecture offering the highest data transfer speeds for the most bandwidth-hungry games and 3d applications, while maintaining backwards compatibility with existing PCI Express motherboards for the broadest support.

Download the NVIDIA graphics driver for this GPU, uninstall the old one, then install the new one.

Do this from the GeForce website.
