Most shows use either Windows or a Linux distro, and "customize" it so it looks "cool", "high tech", etc. If you could post a screenshot/picture of the computer that have the OS you inquire about, I can try to give it a guess.

Really hard to tell. From the left panel, I would say that it's Windows with a custom theme (since there's the Favorites and Libraries tabs), but I don't know for sure if Linux distros have them as well or not.

They also use Hollywood terminal a lot in those shows.

I agree with Aura. I think it's just Windows with a different skin applied.

Quite often those operating systems are little more that interactive power point presentations.

 

This is a cool show if you wanna see that sort of stuff
