My new PSU has a 140mm diameter fan, whereas the PC case has a 120mm diameter air vent over which the PSU fan is designated to sit.

Is this acceptable?

Why l'm reluctant to make a return:

It's a top tier PSU and l'm reluctant to return it, as l've already returned 2 items, each time because l wanted more juice and / or a better model (l've been a good boy, the first PSU had never actually been used). In the case of the 2nd PSU, l actually suspected a fault as well. But anyway, this time, l am extremely reluctant to do a return, due to the cost of return postage and packing, and the cost of any future PSU, as l feel it good manners to at least order a more expensive item if doing a non-faulty return.

I don't have a 140mm fan to hand, but I've just measured a 120mm fan & the actual fan blades are 105mm diameter & these rotate in a 110mm diameter aperture. I imagine a 140mm fan will be similar, so actual fan blade diameter probably about 125mm running in a 130mm aperture. I don't personally see a problem running that up against a 120mm aperture - it's only 5mm per side difference & the only thing it might do is create a little more noise if the fan ever runs at full speed. PSU fans these days seem generally so lethargic that I don't think you'll ever know the difference.

It's fine.  If the PSU anything like mine (XFX branded, made by Seasonic) the fan hardly ever turns on anyway, by design.
