I've been having some BSOD issues this past week that windows can't seem to resolve. Tried all the maintenance tools in win7 but still no fixes. The issue seems to happen occasionally when I have a browser session open. Happens using both Chrome and IE. I don't seem to be losing any data and when it happens, the machine reboots. Problem happens intermittently.

I checked for win updates but seems like system is up to date with the exception of  NVIDIA driver that will not install. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Reports attached.

Perfmon shows that ArcGIS is having problems.  Please uninstall it.

Feel free to install the latest compatible version AFTER we're finished troubleshooting these issues.

Although you appear to have a reasonable number of Windows Update hotfixes for this version of your OS, please double check for any new Windows Updates.  It only takes one update to cause a problem, so it's essential that you have all of them.  The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.

Just FYI - there are many Windows Update errors showing in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report.  This makes it crucial that you check to be sure that Windows Update is working properly.

There are known issues between BitDefender 2016 and MalwareBytes Premium.

If having BSOD's, I suggest checking over at the MalwareBytes BSOD forums:  https://forums.malwarebytes.org/forum/160-bsod-crashes-kernel-debugging/

My suggestion for this is stop MalwareBytes from loading when Windows starts - but there are many other suggestions in the MalwareBytes forums.

FYI - your memory dumps seem to be of the type that are typical for the BitDefender 2016/MalwareBytes problem.

Some suggested solutions are:

- stopping MalwareBytes from loading with Windows

- uninstall MalwareBytes

- uninstall BitDefender 2016/revert to BitDefender 2015

Good luck!

I will give your suggestions a try and report back.

Regarding drivers, there are 4 listed in all caps and are a different color (not red, but magenta/purple):

HECIx64.sys

Rt64win7.sys

GEARAspiWDM.sys

MBAMSwissArmy.sys

Are you recommending that these 4 be updated?

Thank you for your assistance.

I don't know what the coloring indicates, as I haven't colored anything magenta/purple.  And, you're not the first one to mention this either.

The CAPS are because that's how the driver prints in the debugger.  Usually the debugger will retain "case" - but it's not significant here.

No need to update those drivers.  I suspect that the only issue here is the BitDefender/MalwareBytes one.  Once you fix that, the BSOD's should stop immediately.

Thanks for the reply.

I took care of the other items you mentioned...Uninstalled ArcGIS (it's huge) and tweaked the Bitdefender/Malware bytes settings to what was reported on the Malwarebytes forum.

If the BSOD's continue, I will try to swap out Bitdefender 2016 for the 2015 version. To be perfectly honest, I believe the issues started happening not long after re-upping my bitdefender subscription in which 2016 was installed...
