Is it possible to save, backup, e-mail folder, messages etc. on a flash drive? If so, how? I use Thunderbird, and have Windows XPSP2 Home Edition.

I don't see why not. A file is a file is a file.
Here is a Mozilla Knowledge Base entry about creating back ups:

I use a nifty little program called MozBackUp. It is very easy to use, along with the Windows Back Up utility. It takes all the guess work out of backing up your correct profiles. So long as you have room on your Flash Drive, like jgweed said,it'll work just fine.
