Hi cozypi,

I do not know the type of Infection I have,

Can you give us a bit more to go on please, What problems are you experiencing?

Please temporily disable TeaTimer in Spybot S & D as it may prevent part of this fix:

Open Spybot and click on Mode, check Advanced Mode:
Check yes to next window.
Click on Tools in bottom left hand corner:
Click on Resident.
Uncheck Resident "TeaTimer" box.
Close Spybot.
Reboot your computer.

After cleaning your system, reverse these steps and re-enable the protection applets for TeaTimer.

You are using Hijackthis from an unsafe location. Please correct this as follows:

Download a copy of HJTsetup.exe from here and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click HJTsetup.exe to begin installation.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box uncheck the box to the left of "Launch Hijackthis" and then click Finish
Do this Before you proceed!

It is important that you uninstall any previous versions of Hijackthis by using Add/Remove programs in your control panel before installing a newer version.

Download the trial version of Ewido anti-spyware from here and save it to your Desktop.
If you already have this program installed, skip to Updating Ewido: below.

* Please note that these instructions are for the new version - Ewido anti-spyware. If you have the old version - Ewido anti-malware and it is the:
  • paid-for version - you will need to go here and obtain an updated license code before you upgrade.
  • free version - you will need to uninstall it and reboot before installing the new version.
Double click the ewido-setup file to begin installation and follow the prompts.
When the program has been installed, and you click the Finish button, Ewido anti-spyware will open.
  • Updating Ewido:

By default Ewido is configured to update automatically so, if you have an active internet connection, it should do so following installation. If you are unsure whether or not it has done so, do the following:
  • Click the Update icon at the top and under "Manual Update" - click the Start update button.
  • Either Ewido will update or inform you that no update was available.

    Disabling the Resident Shield:
  • By default the Resident Shield is active but as it may interfere with the process of cleaning your PC, it will need to be disabled.
(When the PC has been cleaned you can activate the shield again, if you wish.)
  • Click the Shield icon at the top and under "Resident shield is..." - click active.
  • This should now change to inactive.

    Changing Recommended Actions
  • Click the Scanner icon at the top and then click the Settings Tab.
  • Under "How to act?" click Recommended actions and select "Quarantine" from the menu.
You can now close Ewido anti-spyware.

Open Hijackthis, take another scan and place a checkmark next to these entries.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UserFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -u

The next line marked blue is a restriction. If you didn't set it yourself or have it set by a software program such as Spybot Search and Destroy then click the check-box on the left. If you intentionally set the restriction, then leave it alone.
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present

I also recommend fixing this entry, see the article below:
O4 - Startup: 360Share On Startup.lnk = C:\Program Files\360Share\Gui\360Share.exe
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/360share

Close all open Windows except Hijackthis and click on "fix Checked".

I also recommend that you remove the 360Share file and folder via Windows Explorer:

Open Windows Explorer, Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure you're able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

files...
C:\Program Files\360Share\Gui\360Share.exe

folders...

C:\Program Files\360Share\Gui

-

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them from "Safe Mode".

Reboot into Safe Mode

Ensure that ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders are closed and then run Ewido anti-spyware.
  • If it is not already selected, click the Scanner icon at the top and then select the Scan Tab.
  • Click "Complete System Scan"
  • While the scan is in progress the PC should be left otherwise idle.
  • When the scan has completed, any threats that Ewido has detected will be displayed.
  • Click the Apply all actions button at the bottom.
  • When Ewido has finished, it will display the message "All actions have been applied".

    Saving a report:
  • Click the Save Report button at the bottom left and the "Reports" window will open.
  • The content of the scan report will be displayed in the right hand pane and a copy will be automatically saved as Report-Scan-date-time.txt into the C:\Program Files\ewido anti-spyware 4.0\Reports folder.
  • You will need to post a copy of this report into your next reply, so if it is more convenient, you can save another copy of this report elsewhere:
Click the Save report as button and select a destination by clicking the down arrow to the right of the Save in: text box and then click Save.
Close Ewido Anti-Spyware and reboot the computer into Normal Mode.

Download CCleaner from here to clean temp files from your computer.
Double click on the file to start the installation of the program.
Select your language and click OK, then next.
Read the license agreement and click I Agree.
Click next to use the default install location. Click Install then finish to complete installation.
Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
Click Run Cleaner to run the program.
Caution: It is not recommended to use the 'Issues' tab as it allegedly find's legitimate items.
After it has completed it's process, click Exit.
  • Run Panda's ActiveScan from here and perform a full system scan.
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the "Scan your PC" button
  • A new window will open...click the big "Check Now" button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a couple minutes)
  • Click on "Local Disks" to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
  • Post the log here in your next response.
  • Please go here and click on the Download button to the right of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 7.
  • Click the radio button to accept the license agrement.
  • Under Windows Platform - J2SE™ Runtime Enviroment 5.0 Update 7 click the Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language link.
  • Now go to add/remove and uninstall all previous versions of java from add/remove and then install the latest version you just downloaded! .
  • Reboot the computer.
Open Hijackthis,
Click Config | Misc Tools | Open Unistall Manager.
A list of the entries in Add/remove programs will appear.
Click on Save List...
The list will be saved as 'Uninstall_list.txt'
Copy & Paste the contents in your next reply.

Post the following:
  • A new Hijackthis log
  • The uninstall list.
  • The Ewido log.
  • The Panda scan report.

This may not remove all the infections present. It is important that you post back and complete the fix.

Please post in this thread for further review and evaluation.
Please provide details of any problems you encountered whilst performing the above steps & update us on how the Computer is running.

Joe.

New HiJack This Log

Hi Joe,

The problems I was having were mostly when I used Internet Explorer and Gopher Serach wouldn't go away no matter how many times I deleted it, then bleep enlargment, personal dating, and celeberty porn would automatically show up on my desktop. Everything seems to be working well now. I did notice that when I shut down, there is a program still running that pops up and gives me the option to end now. It is called hidden shell or hidden window icon. I just restarted my computer to find out the name of it, but now it is gone.

I can't think of anything else that is troublesome on my computer. All seems to be well. Here are the posts you requested. And may I just say Muchos Muchos Gracias for your help.

Hi again cozypi,

Firstly I'm sorry for the delay but for some reason I didn't get a notification that you responded.

You didn't post a new Hijack this log.

How many user accounts on the machine? I see the name Roger and your name is Lisa. Do you have separate user accounts or just one?
Post HJT logs for each user account and I'll look through them both to make sure theres nothing untoward there.

I see you have Viewpoint installed..

Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This will change from what we know in 2006 read this article: http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546
I suggest you remove the program now. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.
Viewpoint Media Player

Open Windows Explorer, Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure you're able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

folders...
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint
Reboot after uninstalling!

Since my last post Sun java has been updated again. Can you re-visit the site and update to version 8.

Post the following:
  • A new Hijackthis log Roger & Lisa
  • Another uninstall list.

Thanks,

Joe.

Hi Joe,

Sorry about not posting a new log before. Only one account on this computer and it is named Roger.
Right now, my computer seems to be running a bit slow. Not sure why, it's usually only slow when it's installing or updating, but neither is happening right now, and i just restarted it.
here is new hijack this log and uninstall log too.

Hi cozypi,

You've picked up another entry.

Open Hijackthis, take another scan and place a checkmark next to these entries.

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.gophersearch.com/

If you don't use PartyGammon fix these entries marked blue:

O9 - Extra button: PartyGammon.com - {59A861EE-32B3-42cd-8CCA-FC130EDF3A44} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyGammon\RunBackGammon.exe
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyGammon.com - {59A861EE-32B3-42cd-8CCA-FC130EDF3A44} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyGammon\RunBackGammon.exe

Close all open Windows except Hijackthis and click on "fix Checked".

Please run Ccleaner again.

Please post a new Hijackthis log and let me know if the issue is resolved.

Joe.
