Clean install Linux mint on Brand new SSD

the title says it all.....I have a brand new ssd...120gb......I have two 300gb hdd to hold my data

 

The ssd is brand new....untouched.

 

What do i have to do with the ssd before i install on  it ???....partition table...?

 

I have linux mint on a thumb drive....I have booted to it and am ready to go.....almost  !

have chosen /dev/sdb to install to, and the same for boot loader installation.....

 

getting an error  ..

 

"No root system is defined

Please correct this from the partitioning menu"

In gparted the ssd shows as "unallocated space".....and ...'warning ....unrecognised disk label."

In Gparted click device create partition table then make it ext4.

Now in the installation screen it shows :;

 

/dev/sdb

/dev/sdb1    ext4               120032 mb  ****

 

When i double click on this **** line it tells me ext4 journaling system, and shows no mount point....(maybe it should be /      ?)

 SAMSUNG SSD, has automatic trim support is enabled by default on Ubuntu.
