Recently, I got a problem with playing video files using media player. When I try to play anime videos or vcd, the media player in the computer is able to launch, but it is unable to play the file.

The error message that appeared when I use the windows media player to play the video files is "The specified module cannot be found" whenever a video file is attempted to be played.

In the case of Windows Media Player, there's also another message stating "No DirectX media runtime library is detected please download from microsoft website". I cannot play the video files using Realplayer as well as it will just 'refuse' to play. However, I'm able to play songs (not videos) from cds using the cd-rom directly.

Any way to fix this software problem? Thanks in advance!
