Hey there.

I have recently purchased a new system (about 3 weeks old), that is running fine unless it comes to certain newer games ->crashes (sometimes after 2 hours, sometimes after 5 minutes).
I have found a lot of similiar Threats, but sadly none of them helped me (maybe just me beeing stupid)

Usually the BSOD shows THREAT_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER, crash dump tells me its supposed to be caused by atikmpag.sys/atikmdag.sys

As I have worked on this problem quite a lot already, all driver regarding graphics were wiped and reinstalled (guru etc) and should be up to date, so is the BIOS.

By certain games i mean Dark Souls III and Overwatch, whereas Skyrim (HEAVILY modded, far mor power hungry than DS or OW) and League of Legends run perfectly fine (which makes me think there might be some problem with directx, but I am struggling to find anything related)

I have also run the driver verifier, and while I did not truly understand what happened, it told me there was some problem with gdrv.sys

As for my System:

OS: Windows 10 x64, updated form Windows 7 (from retail) yesterday (had the same problem there, thought update might help)
Motherboard: GA-B150-HD3P Intel B150 So.1151 Dual Channel DDR ATX

Video Card: 4096MB Sapphire Radeon R9 380 Nitro

CPU: Intel Core i5 6400 4x 2.70GHz So.1151

Power Supply: 450 Watt Super Flower Golden Green HX Non-Modular 80+ Gold

Current AMD Driver is   V 15.300.1025.1001

I greatly appretiate any help and time put into this, so thanks in advance.

So far,
Clio

Please ensure that you've turned Driver Verifier off.

gdrv.sys is a driver for the Gigabyte EasySaver utility.

It, along with the Gigabyte EasyTune driver often cause BSOD's on Windows systems.

Please uninstall both programs and see if that helps.

Your UEFI/BIOS (version F3) dates from 2016.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a recent update.

Only 4 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most build 10586 (TH2/1511) systems have more than this.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available Windows Updates.
The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.

If the above stuff doesn't stop the problem, then consider this:
There's Live Kernel Events and video errors in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report.

These are suggestive of a video card failure (hardware) and is supported by all the work that you've done with the drivers.

I'd suggest that the next test is another video card to see what happens.  As it's still under warranty, I'd suggest that you have the manufacturer/reseller handle the diagnostics/repairs.

Hey usasma,

thanks for the quick reply.

I had already checked Windows Updates, nothing new as for today.
I dont know if there is an alternative way to find Updates other then the manual activation of the update-search, but if, I did not find one.

BIOS was just updated yesterday aswell.

As for EasyTune/Saver, i do not find them (or gdrv.sys) on my system.
This might be because I used them to update my BIOS (I think), then ran the driver verifier, and restored to a point "before" installing the Help Programs.

Is there any hint as for why the crashes only occur on Dx12 reliant games?
Its one of my last resorts to think that it can only be a software problem.

How can i make sure that another video card is not simply working because there is no incompabilities in drivers? (man I'm asking tough questions, sorry..)

Additionally, I have tried to update/delete the drivers in the 3rd party section, while also uninstalling programs i felt were not needed on the pc in general.

I will give it a test and provide an update to my findings.

System ran for about 4 hours, thought it might actually be done... Crash
Or rather, Infinit Black Screen.
After that short-term BSOD again.
Card-temp was always around 50-60 °C.

I'll try to add in my new PERFMON and Sysnative, with the changes done.

Tomorrow I will try to contact AMD regarding warranty

No alternative way to check.  Just check, install, and see if you get any errors/problems.

No specifics why the occur on DX12 reliant games - but DX12, games, and video cards get more complicated as each day passes.

You can't be sure about another video card.  All you can do is test it and see.  If you have to purchase one, I'd suggest purchasing from a shop that will let you return it for your money back if it's not needed.

Sometimes they (BSOD's) fix quick, sometimes they take longer.

And sometimes they get other errors before we fix them completely.

All the further BSOD's are related to video.
All but one were STOP 0xEA; one was a STOP 0x116

Please follow these troubleshooting suggestions:  http://www.sysnative.com/forums/bsod-kernel-dump-analysis-debugging-information/35-video-tdr-timeout-0x116-0x117.html#post29532
Also, please monitor your temps with this free utility:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

After that, it's looking more and more like it's a hardware problem (so trying another video card is becoming more necessary in order to pin this down).

FYI - while the video card is the most likely possibility, it could also be a hardware problem with the motherboard - so don't spend a lot of money until you're certain!)

New card and system wiped - most probably a motherboard problem.

But this is just speculation on my part.

In general there are 2 things that can cause BSOD's

- hardware

- software

As you've replaced all the software (with the reinstall of Windows), then it's most likely a hardware problem.

Unfortunately, there are no 100% reliable motherboard tests (they're too expensive for the manufacturer's to make).

As such, the only "test" is to replace it with one that's known to be good (or a new one, and presume that new = good).

The warranty on most of these parts is usually 1 year.

Contact the manufacturer/reseller to see about an exchange of the motherboard.
