If you've installed another OS and the problem remains, in most cases that's an indicator that it is most likely a hardware problem.
But a lot of this depends on how you installed Windows and what you did to it (updating, checking for errors, installing software, etc).
Finally, often a failure to sleep will actually be a BSOD event that happens late enough in the shutdown that you can't see it (and this sort of error is most often software related).
I'd suggest that you post over in the BSOD forums ( http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/233/windows-crashes-bsod-and-hangs-help-and-support/ )
and provide the reports asked for in the pinned topic there. Here's my canned speech about the reports:
Please run this report collecting tool so that we can provide a complete analysis: http://omgdebugging.com/bsod-inspector/
When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location. (By default it'll be a .zip file located on your Desktop)
Simply upload the .zip file with your next post and we'll move on from there.
If it doesn't work for you, then please try this: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/
