hello,
I am having some issues with windows update. The last couple weeks every time i shut down my laptop, there is a message in the screen " installing updates 1/1". I must let you know that in the past i always had my laptop on sleep mode, as a result i missed some updates. Moreover, sometimes because i was in a hurry despite the fact that windows mentioned that i must not power off the laptop when installing updates, i did.

Thank you for your time and patience

The hack that I am I'd system restore before that point. There's probably a smarter more elaborate way of doing things. When you do restore it will try to update again I think.

It's normal for Windows Update to take a long time when you get behind with Windows 7 and 8.  I had to restore from a year old backup a few weeks ago and it took 2 hours 20 min. just to do the scan.  It found 114 updates.  You didn't report any errors, so I assume you're just asking if what your seeing is normal.

 Good luck.

Make regular full system backups or you'll be sorry sooner or later.

It says which update is installing when you shut down, is it the same update trying to install every time?
