I recently restored my computer to a 2 year old point because everything was infernally slow. Speed it better now, but I keep getting the running out of disk space message for G disk and E, factory system for repair image restore. When I check "free up  space" I get zero. When I open those  files on my computer they are empty. I moved up the allotted space on the G disk, it did not help. I have deleted all unused programs including open office which was a real space hog. No better. I did not have this problem before restoring.

"E, factory system for repair image restore"

Please do not attempt to adjust this partition, which should not even have a drive letter assigned to it.  Windows does not read this partition in the way it reads OS, data, etc., partitions.  I hope you didn't move G into E territory, you might encounter some grief.

Concerning G, your OS [and data?] partition, you're on the right track uninstalling un-needed programs, utilities, etc.

I have uninstalled everything I can. How do I get rid of the message?

I don't think I am running out of disk space.

Make sure System Restore is not enabled for Drive E and G. Follow this guide. Are you using the backup utility of Windows 7? That can use a lot of disk space.

You can download and run WinDirStat you give you an idea of what is using space on your hard drives.

Sys Restore was on on all of them. I left only C Drive on.

Thanks.

I am still getting the low disk space message on E and G drives. I restarted the computer, but that didn't help. They are still on off, but the message persists.

Dottie, if your Windows is trying to save System Restore Points and/or other stuff to E partition [which I believe is the factory restore partition] -- then let Hamlius know, he will know what to do.  I'm wondering if attempted saves and copying into E are generating low byte-space alerts about E.

@DottiR, Try cleaning your System Restore Points from G and E using Method 2. Also follow hamluis instructions to post Speccy and Minitoolbox.

I used CC cleaner. Most of the restore points were for windows updates so I deleted them.

Select Edit > Select All

Edit > Copy

Right Click > Paste into your next post.
