Hi,

Great forum to help people get rid of malware.

Had a problem with 100% cpu usage due to a nasty bit of malware.

Was about to rebuild my setup/OS on a second PC and then kill this infected one.

But thanks to various posts here with similar issues I was able to get it cleaned up.

Now I can do the rebuild more leisurely and with less risk

Not been done for years now so it needs cleaning up anyway.

First time some malware got through my defences.

Just registered to say Thanks.

Whilst I got rid of the Trojan it had been busy encrypting lots of files on my PC (almost 10,000!).

Goes to show the value of having backups to everything (I have duplicate independent backups).

Now using the kapersky decryption program to decrypt my working system and it seems to be working fine.

First pass was with a smaller pair set and got rid of 50%.

Second pass should get another 45% or so - the rest will have to be handled manually from my backups (larger than 4 GB files!).

Now running task manager permanently in the background to monitor for a typical CPU usage.
