This will probably require two steps.

I want you to fix some of those entries. Please do the following:

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then click the Fix button

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode and post a new log.

Fix this in hijackthis:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [InteliSys] C:\WINDOWS\smss.exe

Then reboot into safe mode and delete:

c:\windows\smss.exe

Then reboot into normal mode and post a new log

Thanks Plimsol and Grinler

Your Response to my dilemma motivated me to try a new mouse

(i think i had this problem years before)

after connecting the new mouse i havent had a problem.

the only unfortunate thing is that i reformated my hard drive

before trying the new mouse. After reformatting the hard drive

and reinstalling XP ,seeing the curser doing strange things during

the installation of xp.I knew that i had to seek a new solution
