Hi, just wondering if anybody could help in this situation.

I have a laptop which was so slow the cursor hardly moved. So I used a program to retrieve the important files and reformatted and reinstalled windows 7 using a win 7 installation disk from ebay. I inputted the windows key on the laptop and used wsus offline to update windows. I then install the minimum of programs, get rid of the aero desktop then and install avg free.

Its all nice and fast for a day or two, But then I would wake up in a day or two and turn the laptop on for it to not start or go into start up repair loop. I have tried reformatting and reinstalling windows 3 times and also used another second hand hard drive to try. I have tried testing the ram and cpu.

I am totally stumped as to what to do next, its stressing me out as im trying to fix it for another person.

Anybody could shed any light on what im doing wrong, or do I need to just buy a brand new hard drive?

thanks for any advice in advance

Let's try looking at these reports:

1)  Please run this report collecting tool (even though you may not be reporting BSOD's) so we can provide a complete analysis:  http://omgdebugging.com/bsod-inspector/
When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location.
By default it'll be a .zip file located on your Desktop
Simply upload the .zip file with your next post and we'll move on from there.
If it doesn't work for you, then please try this:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/

2)  Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on the "Administrative Events" heading
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

- John  (my website: http://www.carrona.org/ )**If you need a more detailed explanation, please ask for it. I have the Knack. **  If I haven't replied in 48 hours, please send me a message. My eye problems have recently increased and I'm having difficult reading posts. (23 Nov 2017)FYI - I am completely blind in the right eye and ~30% blind in the left eye.<p>If the eye problems get worse suddenly, I may not be able to respond. If that's the case and help is needed, please PM a staff member for assistance.

Only 10 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most systems with SP1 have 300-400 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).
The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.

These drivers aren't installed:

Base System Device    PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2382&SUBSYS_20001297&REV_80\4&86C6DBC&0&00E1    The drivers for this device are not installed.
Base System Device    PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2383&SUBSYS_20001297&REV_80\4&86C6DBC&0&03E1    The drivers for this device are not installed.

These belong to your JMicron card reader.  Please visit the PC manufacturer's support site and download/install the latests W7 compatible drivers for this device.

Please check the date and time on your system.  It appears that error reporting stopped in February of 2016.

If the date/time is off, please correct it immediately - and let us know about it.

The 2 February memory dumps blame Bluetooth and WiFi drivers.  Please:

- download a fresh copy of the software for each driver

- uninstall the software for each driver from Control Panel...Programs and Features

- if not able to find software there, then uninstall the device in Device Manager (right click on it and select "Uninstall")

- then install the freshly downloaded drivers

- monitor for further problems.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :
