Your UEFI/BIOS (version A10) dates from 2015.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a recent update.

Only 8 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most build 10586 (TH2/1511) systems have more than this.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available Windows Updates.
The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.

4 BSOD's listed in the WER section of MSINFO32 all blame usbhub.sys.

What USB devices do you have attached to the system?

In the event that we can't pin it down to a particular USB device, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:  http://www.carrona.org/verifier.html

I have tried updating the BIOS and no new versions are available. I have also tried windows update manually and only received defender updates. I also have no items plugged into the USB ports at all. The only thing I have plugged in is the charger and a pair of ear phones in the audio jack. Since I have no USB devices at all what should I do from here?

There are usually some USB devices built into the system.

From a quick look at the MSINFO32 report it seems that the touchpad and the IR receiver are USB devices.

There's also vid_0cf3&pid_0036 - which appears to be your Bluetooth

And there's vid_046D&pid_c05a - which has something to do with a USB optical mouse

And there may be more.

Please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:  http://www.carrona.org/verifier.html

Hi again. Sorry for posting so much but whilst I was waiting for your reply I googled and tried a few things and want to hear what you think as well. Firstly, and to add a little bit more information to when my problem occurs, it only occurs when I am waking up from sleep. About 1/20 times after waking I get the usbport.sys message and have to restart. What someone else had recommended to them was to go to his computer power plan and make it so USB devices do not sleep when the computer is in sleep settings by turning off USB selective suspend. So far since doing this I have not had a BSOD yet but the computer has only slept a few times.

Secondly, I woke this morning to find this https://imgur.com/zQDGetM in my device manager settings. Over the last week or two I think it has only popped up one other time. I've tried updating it through device manager but it says it is the latest version. With this information added does that mean anything new? Someone suggested I uninstall that driver and all the other drivers and restart my computer so they reinstall. What do you think?

Lastly, I will await your response and in the mean time run driver verifier for the next 36 hours as recommended and post back. Hopefully it doesn't take that long so please don't go anywhere :).

Really appreciate your help.

Hi here I am again. I ran driver verify and it crashed instantly on system boot. I followed the instructions and turned verify off in safe mode. I have attached the file here: Attached File  041616-13500-01.zip   48.24KB   1 downloads

I looked at the dmp file on bluescreenviewer and it appears this time it's saying it is CLVirtualDrive.sys . Does this mean I have more than one faulty driver or was this one potentially triggering the other one to trip? I have a program that was installed by default from Dell on this PC which creates a virtual drive to mount ISOs. Could this cause this? I don't really need it so I can remove it or update it whatever is easiest.

Thanks again.

Sorry for not responding sooner, I don't think that I received notification of your replies.

First, if you still have the problem device in Device Manager, right click on it and select "Properties"

Then select the "Details" tab, then select "Hardware Ids" in the dropdown box.

Let us know what it says in the "Value" box

The memory dump blames your Cyberlink software (the driver is CLVirtualDrive.sys).

Please uninstall the Cyberlink software in order to see if that helps to fix the problems you're experiencing

There's also a bluetooth driver in the memory dump - so it may be your bluetooth drivers also

Please uninstall an updated copy of the latest compatible version for your system.

The yellow icon in device manager was only there for a few minutes at the very most. It's gone now. Ok, I will uninstall and reinstall the bluetooth drivers then I will remove Cyberlink as well. After that I guess I'll try verify again to see if anything comes back. I will post back if it does.

EDIT:

Ran verifier this morning and BSOD on boot up again this time with realtek drivers or something as well as the bluetooth driver still. Looked on the dell website and it says I have the most up to date realtek and bluetooth drivers. I also had another crash this morning with USBPORT.sys again. I'll attach both dmps here Attached File  files.zip   174.3KB   2 downloads

The verifier enabled memory dump points to your wired network driver.

This may/may not be related to the BSOD blamed on USBPORT.sys

But, as long as Driver Verifier continues to blame 3rd party drivers, we'll continue to see if we can fix them.

Was Driver Verifier running when both memory dumps occurred?

The USBPORT.sys driver (btw, this isn't a bluetooth driver) memory dump wasn't a Driver Verifier enabled memory dump.

What if your Bluetooth driver is corrupted?  Having the latest version won't help if it's corrupted.

You'll need to uninstall the old copy and install a freshly downloaded copy in order to attempt to replace any corruption that might be there.

Does Dell supply W10 drivers for your system at their support site?

If not, then you'll have to use the drivers from the Realtek site (but Dell W10 drivers are preferred):  http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

Please:

- download a fresh copy of the latest W10 compatible wired drivers for your system.

- uninstall the current wired drivers using Control Panel....Programs and Features.

- if you can't uninstall the software there, then uninstall the device in Device Manager (right click and select "Uninstall")

- then install the freshly downloaded software.

Hi again,

Reinstalled a few different realtek drivers here and there and things have changed. Ran verify again and got something different now. Bluetooth still appears to be there but now Dellrbtn.sys. Have tried updating it and it says it is up to date. Where should I go from here?

Unsubscribed, logged out, logged in, subscribed again - hope I start getting notifications soon!

I was worried about the DellRbtn.sys and other older drivers.  Who knows if they're compatible w/W10
Is your OS set for W10 when Dell says the driver is up to date?  Are you sure this driver is compatible w/W10?

A test here would be to uninstall the Airplane Mode Switch software - but that may disable your ability to use Airplane Mode (I have not tried this, so I don't know the consequences).

With the number of different problems here, I have to wonder about the W10 installation.

It may be prudent to backup your data, wipe the computer clean, then update to W10

So, I downloaded the Dell Airplane Mode Switch driver package, extracted it, and the DellRbtn.sys driver there is dated from 2015

I'd strongly suggest downloading and installing it.
I'd also suggest downloading and installing the Firmware update "Application for Intel Haswell ME FW v9.5.55.1948 update"

I too wondered about my installation for a while but after going back and resetting my computer to factory a few weeks ago and going back to 8.1 then back again to 10 I have had exactly the same issues. I could try a clean install and start directly on 10 as a last resort :).

Ok, I installed the intel haswell update. I also checked my airplane mode switch and it says it has the 2015 version. I have provided a picture for reference attached. Additionally, I have a link to my computer model as well as the website from Dell where it provides a list of drivers. Take a look and tell me what you think: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/servicetag/B181C12/drivers

EDIT:

What I decided to do was to do a clean install of windows 10 rather than an upgrade. I will post back if I have any issues with it from a blank slate. :)

I don't use the Details button there as it doesn't necessarily point to the exact driver that we're talking about.

Often there are several drivers involved in running that piece of hardware.

As such, i look for the version number and date stamps on the driver itself.

In the case of the debugger, it just shows the date stamp in the output of my scripts.

If it says 2012 on a W10 system - then it's old, no matter what Dell may say.

BUT, old doesn't mean incompatible, it's just more likely that it is incompatible.

Finally, when you install a drive package, it installs lot's of files (and sometimes several drivers).

If there's a file there that the developer doesn't think needs replacing - then it doesn't get replaced.

Unfortunately, the installer can't check and see if the drivers that it leaves in place are corrupted or not.

That's why I suggest uninstalling it all before installing a new copy (and, in extreme cases, using custom uninstallers to be sure you get it all).

Good luck with the clean install!  Let us know how it works out!

Glad this topic is not closed. I'll send you a PM to bump this too. I've had a couple of Blue screens even after clean installing. Take a look and let me know what you think I should do. I got these once my computer woke up from sleep.

Interesting, I got an email with the latest post right around the time you made the post.
Maybe the notifications are getting fixed?  Keep up with the bumps just in case :0)

Compare the drivers in this set of dumps with the drivers in the other dumps.

It's most likely that one of those drivers (that's repeated in each dump) is to blame (but that's not 100% certain - but ti's the best guess that we have right now)

Start uninstalling them one by one to test and see what happens.

Good luck!
