We are hoping someone can help us get our small office network setup. Our ISP is Time Warner Cable. The technician installed our router as shown in the picture below. There was already a box with 4 ports as seen the same picture below.

Currently we have two offices setup. One office is connected to the port labeled D3 and the front office (we’ll call that one Office 1) is apparently connected to the gray wire shown in the picture labeled Office 1.

The yellow cable which is plugged into port D3 apparently connects Office 2 as if we disconnect that, then all internet in Office 2 disconnects.

So as you see it setup in the image, we have internet access in both offices.

The problem is both of the computers are apparently on 2 separate networks. Office 1 shows as being connected to “Network 2” while Office 2 shows as being connected to “Network”.

Our printer is wired into Office 2 and Office 1’s computer is not able to find it. I assume it’s because they’re on 2 separate networks. Is this correct?

If things aren't working right, I would call the technician to fix it.  BTW, I am not downloading any file on my computer unless I am 100% certain I know what it is.

I had no idea it would require others to download anything. I've edited my post to include the image.

I don't think the technician did anything wrong. I think it has to do with the ports that were already installed here before we moved in.

You can prove or disprove that easily.  If you log in to your router's web administration page, what does it show?  Which operating system are you using?  Windows?  Which version?  Is network discovery is on on both computers.  Is file and printer sharing is on.  If you open Windows Explorer, do you see the other computer and/or printer under network?

I will just add, the Timewarner tech wont troubleshoot your network, it's not their job. They are there to provide access to the internet. Once their equipment is online that's all they are responsible for.

Its possible that you had a router installed at the offices before. Now with the Timewarner modem/router installed its providing office 1 with a different network then office 2. Run the minitoolbox report mentioned at the top of this forum (in the please read post) at both offices and post the reports.

I assume it’s because they’re on 2 separate networks. Is this correct?

You can prove or disprove that easily.  If you log in to your router's web administration page, what does it show?  Which operating system are you using?  Windows?  Which version?  Is network discovery is on on both computers.  Is file and printer sharing is on.  If you open Windows Explorer, do you see the other computer and/or printer under network?

I've posted screen shots showing what I see when I login to my router. See below. To answer the other questions:

1) Office 1 is running Windows 7 Professional. Office 2 is running Windows 7 Home Premium

2) Network Discovery and Filing Sharing are on for both computers.

3) Office 1: No, Office 2: I see the printer and a laptop which is connected via WiFi. I suppose I should have mentioned that in Office 2 there is a WiFi router plugged in which I use to connect a laptop.

I don't see the DHCP range(s) in your screenshots.  Your IP is 192.168.0.4 and your gateway is 192.168.0.1 yet there is also router (WNR1000v4) with an IP of 192.168.0.2?  How many routers do you have on your network?  Also, what about network discovery, file and printer sharing?  Does Windows Explorer display any other devices under Network?  What about from the other computer?  Can you do an ipconfig /all from the other computer, what is its IP and gateway?

From the picture your network is not connected properly.

Router should connect to a switch.  The switch connects to a patch panel.  The patch panel is wired to all of the network outlets.

In your case you have a router port connecting to a network outlet [yellow cable] and the grey cable goes to "office"

So what is at the other end of the yellow and grey connections?

You also appear to have a cable modem router in the picture and from the CPE list it would appear you have another router WNR1000v4 which doesn't look anything like the one in your picture

https://www.google.com/search?q=wnr1000v4&biw=1280&bih=607&tbm=isch&imgil=POtLzjctR5EGmM%253A%253BnBsPFaWaPtUJQM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.netgear.com%25252Fsupport%25252Fproduct%25252FWNR1000v4&source=iu&pf=m&fir=POtLzjctR5EGmM%253A%252CnBsPFaWaPtUJQM%252C_&usg=__gfGwCCfQmoFFWLuU7wC9T_ieV9g%3D&ved=0ahUKEwjj6ICJrozMAhUJwmMKHeBBBq4QyjcIOg&ei=fZ8OV6O2HImEjwPgg5nwCg#imgrc=POtLzjctR5EGmM%3A

So why did a tech come out?  New service or just replacing equipment?
