I received an e-mail from Kodak that the 3250 does not support Linux.

Even tho I missed the special sale for $20.00 I did find another Canon for just a few dollars more and bought it online at Bestbuy.

Should be in Friday.  The inks for it are about the same as my Kodak so we will see.

What is sort of weird when I go pick it up I am supposed to bring a copy of my email.  Just why do they think I am buying a printer???

How do I print out a email without a printer lol.

Go to a local library or a friends place that has a printer.

All of these ideas are good possibilities.  The thing that really hurts is I have a perfectly working printer except it will no longer interface with my PC.

So what do I do with the printer lol I already got a ton of used computer stuff I can't even give away lately.

I hope all you who say Canon Printers will work with Linux are right.  Every one of the spec sheets for all of their printers say they only work on windows or mac.

In a few days I will know for sure. lol

I noticed that I bought that printer just in time. It is no longer listed at best buy.

The printer I bought is a PIXMA MG2520 altho if you go to best buys website for port arthur texas there are only 8 Canon printers listed.

I looked at the spec sheets on every one of them. They all say they are for Windows or Mac. No mention of any other OS's

There is some support for Cannon but I don't think it is Officail Cannon stuff.  I am testing a live session right now so no access to my Folders and Bookmarks, so will get back soon.  Unfortunately I have not installed one of these but the drivers for print and scan seem to be available.

I'm going to drop a few links here for now and look at them later.  It will give us something to study up on before you get your printer.  The driver install is above my skill level but maybe the links will help.

I see here where you got the ok on the Cannon.  So maybe wizardfromoz will chime in later.

I find this page helpful for looking up what printers are likely to work on Ubuntu based distros .... https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsPrinters

The more specific one for Canon is ... https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsPrintersCanon

You rang? My ears are burning.

Yes Dannyboy, I had two or more websites at my fingertips a while ago, that gave every indication you would be OK with that Canon.

Just have to track them down & I'll be back. Got to hit the sack here, but back in less than 24 I expect.

Cheers, and good to hear from you

Our friend Pjtor says that it might install without any driver download, unless it is to new and not included.

https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/18

Otherwise, one of the sites I posted have the drivers.

I am not meaning to pick on PCpunk's help or efforts.  But since he brought it up again.

I will use one of his links as an example.  On the face of it the link is to the drivers of my exact make and model of printer.  However clicking that link and reading all the way down the page where the actual driver d/l are listed, the 2 linux drivers show unavailable.

Most of Gary R's links the relevant files need to be edited sometimes.

Hell I can barely find a package never mind edit one. LOL

dannyboy, sorry for the confusion.  I was not in my normal computer, I was just using that post to Save some links, some of which have the needed drivers.  Hopefully you won't even need them, but if you do they are there.  You will however need help installing them if they are not included in the Distro.  tar.gz files are not something I have installed yet, and that is what all those files are.  Don't worry about downloading anything now.  Hopefully you can use the last set of directions I provided to install without much effort.  Let me look further into it.
