So I was looking for a BIOS upgrade to my Gateway SX2370, when I see on the website an upgrade that says "BIOS - UEFI for Windows 8 (Not for Upgrades)". I'm wondering, is this a ROM file that replaces the BIOS with UEFI? If so, that would be awesome, then I could replace my 2TB internal hard drive with a much larger drive.

It might help if you post a link to the website.

The no upgrade means the BIOS is meant for computers that shipped with Windows 8 installed. Your Windows 7 PC does not support UEFI BIOS.

Man, that sucks. Is it an incompatibility with the old bios? The operating system is expendable, since I have backups, so reinstalls are an option.

EDIT: Nevermind, I think the reason I wouldn't be able to upgrade to UEFI would be because of the EEPROM capacity not being big enough.
