I am having trouble with my CD ROM opening inadvertantly while I am working or upon startup.  The File explorer opens with no files and the petition to install a disk in drive K (CD ROM). I have now started with a Clean Boot and have only had one occasion that it has opened since.  That was when I woke it up from sleep. Where to from here?

If your optical drive opens on its own, it's possible somebody planted a script on your computer.  People sometimes do this as a joke but it could just as well have malicious intents.  You may want to open Task Scheduler and take a look at the tasks and see if you find anything suspicious.

As I said, "it's possible".  So I could be wrong.  Are there any vbs scripts on your computer?  You could download the portable version of Everything and extract to a new folder.  Run a search for *.vbs and see if anything comes up.  If you don't want to keep Everything when you're done, just delete the folder and it's gone.

Run Autoruns and from "Options" tab place check marks for Hide Empty Locations and Hide Microsoft Entries. From "Options" tab click "Scan Options..." and place a check mark for Verify code signatures, Check VirusTotal.com and Submit Unknown Images and click "Rescan" button. After scan finnish save the scan from "File --> Save.." tab and upload the save file for us to download.

Start Autoruns and from "Logon" tab uncheck all startup programs checkbox. Restart your computer to find out issue has been resolved. If issue resolves then you know one of the startup program was causing the issue.
