Google Earth hasnt worked for months. Images dont load or anything. Have tried re-installing and also disabling firewall in case it was interfering with the connection somehow.

Sorry... I couldn't resist.

Did you re-download Google Earth and use a new .exe file to try re-installing it? Does the www.earth.google.com work for you?

So it does... I just typed it in... you can do earth.google.com and go to the site. Though I haven't used it in years, I forgot you got to download either the desktop version or a plugin for the web version. Have you tried using the web version with a plugin?

OK that seems to work. However I cant seem to search the map. I can zoom in and out, but theres nowhere I can search for place names and fly to them. Does the web version miss this feature?

This looks promising: I made a new "Standard user" account on my computer. For some reason google earth seemed to work alright. Figuring it wasnt an issue with google earth, and having temporarily disabled security software to rule out interference I tried downloading ccleaner back on my main account. I wiped the registry, temporary files and all other options, in particular the option for "google earth" under applications. Having done this, google earth seems to work fine. I guess there must have been some leftover temp files causing havoc, even after fresh installs. Lets hope this really has fixed it.

Left over files that didn't get fully deleted could have caused the issues. Glad it's working for you for know, hopefully it stays that way!
