From a computer security standpoint, how would you guys rate the GOG (good old games) site?

Lately I've developed a (healthy) paranoia about downloading anything to my PC and don't want to take the risk if the GOG site is insecure (or the games themselves corrupted by PUPs and other mal.)

It's a really bad business model to sell malware, one normally just gives it away for free...

Read some customer reviews to better understand others experience with the company. Just remember that those who have a bad experience are more likely to review than those who have a good experience.

GoG is a well known, safe site. I haven't used them but their reputation in the gaming community is very good. Another related site is humble bundle, which tends to give games as steam keys if you're worried about downloads.

I use GOG pretty often, perfectly safe site. None of their games are loaded with anything nasty. Give them a try! Some old gems are out in their repositories! :)

GOG is great, though I don't know for how long this is gonna last. When they started their DRM free policy, there weren't many good anti-cracking mechanisms for games. It didn't matter that the devs put a protection software, it wasn't going to get cracked on day 1. Now that there's Dunovo and other types of effective DRM, I think that GOG may rethink their policies.
