Has anyone heard of this encryption virus or does it have another name?

We will need more information. Was a file extension added to your files? Do you have a ransom note, and what is the name of it?

Please follow the instructions in this topic for how to provide us with the information needed when posting this topic: How to Post a Topic Asking for Help With Ransomware

I am assuming you may have TeslaCrypt 3.0/4.0 based on the ransom note lying about the use of RSA4096 (it actually uses ECHD and AES256, no less secure).

You may use the tool in my signature to identify what ransomware you were hit with by uploading a ransom note and encrypted file to be analysed.

Tried using the tool in your signature and it says it unable to determine. How does one find an original encrypted file?

You can upload just any encrypted file that you cannot open (because its encrypted).

Mind posting a sample encrypted file and the ransom note? I'm looking through the logs and see a few with no results lately, not sure which is yours. If you have a ransom note named "_ReCoVeRy_+rtmqd.png", that's TeslaCrypt 3.0/4.0; I'm having a current bug with detecting some ransom notes with a plus sign in them, working on that.

I was going to save all my  doc files and pictures than reset my computer. Hopefully someone can come up with a way to fix them. I just want to thank you for your help.

Was "_ReCoVeRy_+rtmqd.png" you then? Otherwise we'll need to see a sample of an encrypted file and ransom note to confirm.

Since the infection was confirmed and rather than have everyone start individual topics, it would be best (and more manageable for staff) if you posted any more questions, comments or requests for assistance in the support topic discussion. To avoid unnecessary confusion...this topic is closed.
