I came across www.getgapps.com and they claimed they can setup a free grandfathered GA account for only about $40.  I decided to try it on a domain that doesn't matter much and they did everything they said and it worked.  I had to change my own MX records as they never had access to my domain DNS configuration.  I simply paid them about $40 and told them the domain I wanted setup.  They set it up and sent me the admin user and password.  I changed the password and it seems fine.  Is this really secure and safe?  How in the world are they doing this?

That sounds like a scam to me. Added to the fact that it seems to be cheating a google system (google is really good about knowing when you are trying to game the system), the whois info shows whois protection - not something most legit companies bother to pay extra for.
