Old Computer IDE HD

i have an old XP computer with IDE HD (ribbon cable type) with a crashed motherboard,

 

i have a second XP computer working with IDE HD,

 

if i put the HD from the crashed computer into the working computer as a slave drive will i be able to access all my files on it?....also will i be able to use application programs such a Word and Excel on the slave drive? (they are not on the primary HD)

Yes.

No. Installed programs have files placed in several locations including Windows folders and also Registry entry's only simple programs will work by running the exe files directly.
