I just got a new computer. Its a Panasonic CF-53 Windows 7.  I dont have virus protection and was hoping someone can help me with this. I did download Malwarebytes scanner and I have always used that in the past to run one time scans.  The problem is it keeps popping up constantly and its annoying.  I tried to go into settings to stop it from doing so but nothing stops it from happening constantly.  Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.  In the past I have always used Comodo. As of late,  it has been blocking alot of my programs.  Can someone help me get my computer protected?  Thanks!

I would suggest one of the following.

Sophos Home
SecureAplus.
Panda Free

Also, add Zemana Antimalware Free, for on demand scanning.

Hi:

The others have already covered selection of an AV.

However, you wrote:

The behavior you report is not normal or expected.

MBAM Free is only a manual, on-demand scanner, with no real-time protection.

It should not be generating pop-ups.

It sounds as if you may have used the 14-day Trial and that it expired.

Sometimes, when the Trial expires, on some systems, certain settings do not properly revert to the Free version (especially if MBAM was not properly installed or configured from a Windows Admin account).

I suggest  carefully following all the steps in this pinned topic to get you back to a clean starting point with MBAM Free: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

  • Please be sure to reboot when prompted by the removal tool.
  • If you are offered the Trial again during the setup wizard after reinstalling, please be sure to opt out (un-tick) the Trial option, if you only want the Free, manual, on-demand version.
    • There is normally only 1 Trial per PC per Program version. However, since a new program version (2.2.1.1043) was recently released, you might be offered the Trial again during the clean reinstall.

Note: whether you opt for MBAM Free or even paid MBAM Premium, you'll still need a robust, real-time AV, as MBAM is NOT an antivirus.

It is designed to run alongside an AV, to provide layered protection, not to replace it.

HTH,

MM
