Hi folks,

My PC's having a rough go of it since winter, and I'm just getting around to trying to fix it.  It's crashing unexpectedly, usually when I play such as Alien Isolation or Invisible, Inc.  The first crash was during AI, a pretty graphics-intensive game, and I briefly got a blue-screen message, then black screen and powered off.  I figured it was probably the graphics card and have replaced the card.  Now the machine will still crash, but it bypasses the BSOD and directly shuts down.  Maybe the power supply?

The screen flashes a little on bootup too - I've read that could mean the LCD screen will fail soon, but to my (untrained) mind, makes me think it's the power supply failing to power the graphics card...  Any help is much appreciated!

OS - Windows 7

x64

This is the original OS

OEM version

System is about 6 years old - new graphics card is about 1-month old

Not sure how old the OS is - I've reinstalled it, but not in the last couple years

· CPU - AMD Phenom II X3 750
· Video Card - Radeon R7 360
· MotherBoard - (if NOT a laptop) - Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3 770R
· Power Supply - OCZ 600W

· System Manufacturer - me
· Exact model number - 1

· Laptop or Desktop? Desktop

Best regards,

George

Although you appear to have a reasonable number of Windows Update hotfixes for this version of your OS, please double check for any new Windows Updates.  It only takes one update to cause a problem, so it's essential that you have all of them.  The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.

These devices have issues in Device Manager:

Marvell 91xx Config ATA Device    IDE\PROCESSORMARVELL_91XX_CONFIG_____________________1.01____\6&2F544828&0&1.1.0    The drivers for this device are not installed.
AODDriver4.01    ROOT\LEGACY_AODDRIVER4.01\0000    This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.
Acer X203H    DISPLAY\ACR0073\5&CC1A9FB&0&UID518    This device is working properly.

Please update the Marvell device by downloading the latest version for W7 available from the support website for your motherboard.

For the AODDriver:

- please download a fresh set of the latest W7 compatible drivers from the AMD website.

- uninstall the current AMD drivers

- install the freshly downloaded drivers

- reboot and check to see that the error is gone.  If not, post back.  If AMD Overdrive is installed, the the quote box below this paragraph.

The Acer monitor is supposed to be working properly, but it's unusual to see good devices here.  Keep an eye on it for problems - just in case.

Here's the AMD Overdrive removal suggestions:

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center.  This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.

NOTE:  these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive.  The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.

Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from http://www.amd.com (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLYhttp://www.sysnative.com/forums/showthread.php/668-ATI-video-cards-DRIVER-ONLY-installation-procedure

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install".  Reboot for changes to take affect.

Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's.  If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

See the notes below about updating the USB 3.0 drivers - that is very important!!!

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Beyond this, as there was only 1 memory dump in the upload, I have these 4 suggestions:
1.  Get ALL available Windows Updates.  It may take several trips to get them all
2.  Get ALL available, compatible updates for your OS from the manufacturer's website (to include BIOS/UEFI).
3.  Start with these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html
4.  If all of the hardware tests pass, then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:  http://www.carrona.org/verifier.html
