Hello, I just got a brand new PC today and i did not have a monitor for it so i looked online to see if i could use my TV and i saw that people were able to do this. So i tried to do it via HDMI and it did not work. now before i go further with this is it possible to connect a PC to a TV without it having a direct connection with a monitor and Windows 10 not installed yet, or do i need an HDMI to DVI cable to do this.

Could you please post the make and model of this computer, and perhaps even the make and model of the TV ?

Generally speaking, if the computer has an HDMI 'out' and the TV an HDMI 'in' you just plug the one into the other using a cable of the appropriate length. You may also need to select the correct HDMI input on the TV if it has more than one HDMI input.
