asus k55a suspected bios fault?

Hi all
Recently installed windows 10 on am asus k55a for a friend. Its been running fine until today when it froze. She restarted it, and it is going into the bios menu and asking for the date and time to be set, but won't do anything. Could there be a fault with the bios battery?

Welcome to Bleeping Computer! The symptom is very typical of the CMOS backup battery needing replacement. Looks like you need to pop the top panel to gain access to the battery - if you're not familiar with procedure, there's a slightly clumsy teardown tutorial here:



The location of the CMOS battery appears just before the 7:00 min mark.
