My windows, out of the blue, decided that my c: Program Files folder is corrupted and unreadable. This locks me out of pretty much every utility tool on the computer. I can't chkdsk, cmd, system recovery, or anything that could help fix the problem. The odd thing in this is that the computer still works pretty fine, outside of being locked out of, pretty much, everything that could help me fix this problem. This is a problem considering I cannot do system upkeep such as defragging, clearing unwanted data, and more. Anyone have any ideas how to approach and possibly fix this problem? Very much so WITHOUT having to reinstall windows or get a new hard drive. Money is tight and I would most certainly like to not have to shell out the money for a new copy of windows.

What is the exact message you receive when you click on Program Files?

Have you tried doing a System Restore?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
