So i have a fax machine hooked up to my Router/Modem.

Whenever my Fax machine gets a fax, the internet disables while processing and printing, usually about a minute or so, it then turns back on.

Obviously, this shouldn't be happening. Any ideas on whats wrong?

I can give more info if needed.

It could be a power issue, more likely if the fax machine is a laser.  You may be creating a brown out condition when you print.  Installing a UPS on the router/modem may resolve your issue.

You have a dsl service?

If so do you have a splitter?

ideally the fax line would go into the phone outlet on the splitter

Sounds like a DSL Connection to me.  Is that the case?

Usually with dsl you get a phone line and a internet connection.  They split the two from the same line by way of a splitter.  This allows each to be used without the interference from the other.\

Do you have a outlet for a phone and a internet connection as separate outlets?

 It goes wall-->router-->fax & wall-->phone

Right now i'm guessing the embedded dsl filter is broken.
