Hello

I am replacing my ACER Aspire 5740 Laptop 320 GB HDD with a 120 GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD

I have only 70GB data on the laptop HDD in 3 partitions

I am using an external casing to attach the SSD to the Laptop USB port for cloning

I have Windows 7 Home premium 32bit installed

However, today I started to clone my hard disk using Samsung migration software
However, it gets stuck at around 315MB and after 10-15 minutes I get the message
Cloning failed
An error occurred during defragmentation 308200[04b3e8]

I have restarted my computer and tried again, but same result
The clock also stops in the cloning program when it is stuck at 315MB

Please let me know if you need any more details

Please suggest how to proceed

Thanks for advising

Maybe you should preemptively defrag the drive and try to clone again?

I have a Samsung Evo 500GB on my Laptop and Cloned my old WD 500 by using Mini Tool Partition Wizard http://www.partitionwizard.com/

I have C:\ and D:\ Partitions.

I tried the Wizard from Samsung and that didnt work either or to my liking.

With Mini Tool you just select all partitions on the Old Drive  and Clone to the New Drive , first time no issue .

Ensure when you have selected the Task to run , that you then click the "Apply " tab { Top Left } to run the Tasks set.

Once done you can swap them out and away you go , keep the old drive aside in case anything goes pear shaped - shouldnt.

You can also Use the Samsung Drive Magician to setup the SSD Drive to your liking as i did.

Couple Photos of Mine.
