I have a HP pavilion with Windows 7. I am stuck in recovery. When I click to backup files(photos) I get a message that there is not enough room to do so. I have tried several external hard drives but none of them are recognized. How can I back them up? Can I add more memory? Or put the HP hard drive into another computer? I have a very basic knowledge of computers. I tried a recovery with Umbuntu (?) but it only pulled a very small, random set of photos. Thanks.

You could use a program like Recuva to see if you can access these files or folders.  Clicking on the link will automatically start the download.

Please download and install Speccy to provide us with information about your computer.  Clicking on this link will automatically initiate the download.

When Speccy opens you will see a screen similar to the one below.

Click on File which is outlined in red in the screen above, and then click on Publish Snapshot.

The following screen will appear, click on Yes.

The following screen will appear, click on Copy to Clipboard.

In your next post right click inside the Reply to Topic box, then click on Paste.  This will load a link to the Speccy log.
