I just upgraded to Windows 10 on my Lenovo ThinkPad. I like the new features but it seems something is "blocking" my internet connection. After reboot, I can access the internet for a couple of minutes before the connection is lost again.

I am still connected to my wireless network. All ping requests fail. ipconfig/release -> ipconfig/renew does not restore the connection.

I respect that you did everything in your power so solve this, but am I seriously supposed to accept that after months of postponing this upgrade, only to find myself forced to do so, that my internet will not work and there is no fix?

i could not find one i tried some fixes and they didnt fix it. I assume your on intel wireless card? im on that and that causes problems so buy a diffrent card and change drivers if u REALLY want to fix it actually but i dont know if it will still be 100% windows 10 is bad at wireless..

windows 10 has a lot of spying features from what i heard

turn wifi sense off as its unsessary but idk if it will even make it last longer if it dosent downgrade before your months over

Compatibility w/W10 depends on the hardware in the system.

In general, older hardware won't work as well as newer.

Also, drivers for older hardware may not have been developed.  Manufacturer's do this so they don't have to support a product forever - even for things it wasn't designed for.

Then, it's possible that the wireless card itself is broken - and that after it heats up, that causes a broken wire to flex and break the connection (not likely, but possible).

For example, I have a Lenovo X61t laptop that is not compatible w/W8

But this laptop was originally developed for WinXP, and was last updated to WinVista.

I managed to make it work on W7 - but wasn't able to make it work w/W8 (even took it a conference at Microsoft and they couldn't help either)

So, after weeks of fussing with it (as some things did work), I finally gave up and reverted to W7.

It's been working nicely for a friend's kids for a couple of years now.

So, the first thing we'll need is:

- the exact make and model of the system

- a description of how you updated/upgraded to W10

Then, please wait until the internet connection is lost and then run these reports.

This is so that the error (if any) is towards the beginning of the reports - and not buried in a mass of other entries:

1)  Please run this report collecting tool (even though you may not be reporting BSOD's) so we can provide a complete analysis:  http://omgdebugging.com/bsod-inspector/
When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location.
By default it'll be a .zip file located on your Desktop
Simply upload the .zip file with your next post and we'll move on from there.
If it doesn't work for you, then please try this:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/

2)  Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on the "Administrative Events" heading
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
