Hey guys,

when starting GTA 5and Battlefield 4 my computer freezes and restarts. Somtimes it shows a BSOD with a "DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION" error message. The DPC-error also occors randomly from time to time.

I updated all drivers, cleaned up the registry, but no luck so far. I've attached the perfmon.zip and SysnativeFile and an HTML-file created with "Bluescreen view" > it hints to something called hal.dll. I don't know what that is and what I should do with that info.

Does anybody know what the problem is and how to solve it?

I've been googeling for hours now and still nothing has helped. Really appreciate you taking the time and having a quick look!

Some info about my system:

· Desktop

· Windows 10

· x64
· full retail version
· new system (two weeks old)
· new installation
· Gainward GeForce GTX 970 Phoenix
· ASRock H170 PRO4S H170
· be quiet! System Power 8 500W
· Intel Core™ i5-6500
· Kingston HyperX DIMM 8GB DDR4-2133

I'm late for work, but would like to suggest starting with these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

This is because the crash list report shows mostly errors in hal.dll (usually a hardware or compatibility problem).

Also, one of the crashes blames your nVidia video drivers, so I'd suggest starting with the video tests.

I'll try to go through the reports when I get home from work, but may not make it.

If so, I'll definitely look at this in the early AM tomorrow (east coast of the US; UTC - 5)

Ran the memory dumps while I was in the shower.
They ALL blame ffusbaudio.sys - a driver for a USB audio device (most likely Focusrite)

Please uninstall the software for this device and then physically remove the device from your system

Then test to see if the BSOD's return.

Hey usasma, really thanks a lot! That was it! Hours of googling and you solved it. Thanks!

Now, the only bad thing is... it seems I have to get a new USB audio interface. Apparently there's no updated driver for this thing (Focusrite Saffire USB1.1  6)   :(

The final bits of the analysis:

Your UEFI/BIOS (version P1.80) dates from January of 2016.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a recent update.

Only 5 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most build 10586 (TH2/1511) systems have more than this.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available Windows Updates.

On the off chance that it was the USB drivers and not the USB audio, please be sure to update your chipset and USB 3.0 drivers from the manufacturer's website.

If they are the latest version, then uninstall them and install a fresh copy (in case of corruption).

Once all of that is done, then we wait and see if the BSOD's return.

If they do, please zip up the contents of C:\Windows\Minidump and upload them with your next post.

If you can't zip them there, then copy them to the Desktop and zip them up on the Desktop.

Good luck!

EDIT:  I didn't see your post until I wrote this.
Unfortunately, if it's not compatible w/W10, then you'll have to get a new device.

At least you've solved it.

Good luck again!
