We have a running windows server 2003 with microsoft SQL server 2005 for 2 years with no problem. No recent changes was made in the server, but few days ago our client computers are having problems accessing the database of the SQL server and got an error of SQLSTATE=08001. Physical connections are in good condition and we can ping the server. The client computers are using a 3rd party application and access the database. (the 3rd party software/application handles the connection in the client computers)
The services of the SQL server are running and both TCP/IP and namedpipes are enabled.
Sometimes the client can successfully connect to the database, sometimes they can't, and sometimes when they are trying to connect or when they are connected, the application freezes and not responding, then the error prompts.
Can someone please point me to the right direction in resolving this issue? I would appreciate any help.
