Good evening!
I had just sent my HP Pavilion dv7 to be repaired, it had a black screen got about 2 years and before I tossed it i sent it to directv to be fixed under my insurance. I just got it back all fixed today, they reformatted the OS the only problem is I cannot get it to connect to the Internet. It connects to my network with a great solid connection but is "Local Only"
I Uninstalled the preloaded Norton to see if that would fix it and it did not.
I'd appreciate any input :)

Open a command prompt and type "tracert" (no quotes) space and  www.google.com at the prompt. Copy the results and paste them here. You'll need to right click on the command window and choose "mark" and select the text in order to copy the results to the clipboard. This will show if you're getting out to the Internet.

Sounds like you need to configure the notebook wifi to connect to the wifi of your router.

Here is a good conversation on the subject

Does it show that the wireless adapter is working on Device manager? It might need the drivers, or you might have a bad wireless card.

I purchased a USB WiFi adapter and am using that! Everything is good now.
Thank you!
