I must have done something wrong. I unpinned all of the apps from  start in order to re-organize. The apps are still  listed  under chrome and I put a couple of them back and of course they contain the symbol of the website. After I put the first one back, I clicked on it and instead of going to the website, it went to the chrome browser.

Can you check properties of one of the apps?  I'm using W7pro, my icons can contain any one of these three properties:

-- c:\[path]\chrome.exe

-- web site A url

-- "c:\[path]\chrome.exe" "web site A url"

I'm wondering if somehow the computer OS changed/altered that property in each of your web site apps.

i.e. right now, the only app that I have on my start page is ABC network, and no matter right click, left click, it doesn't present the option of clicking on to "properties". Too, I tried just clicking on ABC Network listed, in words, under Chrome Apps and all it gives is things like pin unpin, etc.

It sounds like your web shortcuts are corrupted.  If so, you'll need to do them over.
