No more Internet for MSIE after upgrade ro MSIE 11

Although very happy with MSIE 10 on Windows 7, but being stressed by the continuous reminders to upgrade to Explorer 11, I agreed to it  on http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/download-ie and my troubles began.

 

Explorer 11  just doesn't do the only thing it should do: go to the Internet.! It even doesn't go to the "Fritzbox".

 

I somehow managed to get back to Internet Explorer 10.

 

I think that sooner or later I'm supposed to to this upgrade - May I ask for a helping hand to avoid the mess I came in?

Since IE 11 works quite well in many other systems...let's take a look at some system data.

 

FWIW:  Browsers/programs/Windows may typically be updated...to negate known security flaws in previous versions.  Using older versions of IE, Java, and such...increase system vulnerability to known malware exploits.

 

1.  Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.
 
Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
  List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
 
Click Go and paste the content into your next post.
 
2.  Please download and install Speccy to provide us with information about your computer.  Clicking on this link will automatically initiate the download.  
 
When Speccy opens you will see a screen similar to the one below.

Click on File which is outlined in red in the screen above, and then click on Publish Snapshot.
 
The following screen will appear, click on Yes.

What error messages are you receiving when IE fails to connect to the Internet?

Info On ArcCon a.c.

 

I would uninstall the ArcSoft program (on the premise that it's damaged) and reinstall.

 

Ditto for Adobe Lightroom.

 

The hard drive input/output error...can be triggered by loose connections, so I would disconnect/reconnect the hard drive first.  I would follow that up with running SeaTools For Windows, dc3 - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/595453/restart-your-computer-to-install-windows-updates/?p=3857682,.  Long generic test is what I would use.

Strange about ArcSoft, I never use it. Lightroom however stalls from time to time, but never loses information. I avoid this Lightroom behavior by restarting the program after each dozen photos.

Any way I've uninstalled /installed both. Checked for loose connections and clieaned up the interior as well.

If the system is manufactured by an OEM, such updates should be obtained at the manufacturer website.

 

If self-builtk, then the motherboard manufacturer or the component manufacturer...is where I would expect to find the appropriate driver update.

Hi Louis, You're right - all works, cause we are still (back) on MSIE 10.

Remember the problem started with the upgrade to MSIE 11. The problem was that MSIE 11 didn't go on the Internet, even not on the router.

 

"not working" =  MSIE 11 doesn't go on the Internet

Yes, Firefox does its job

Yes, Qualcomm Eudora does its job

 

Do you think i should try my chance again with this upgrade? Starting it from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/download-ie ? Do you suggest another method?

Try reinstalling IE 11 from the Microsoft Download Center.

 

If there are still problems after installing IE 11 please do the following.

 

Please download and install Farbar Service Scanner.
 
When FSS opens you will see an image like the one below.

Place checks in all of the boxes and then click on Scan
 
When the Scan is complete a log similar to the one below will open.  Copy and then paste this in your topic.

Hi dc3, installled from the link you gave me. Unfortunately with the same negative result: no WWW. Moreover, this time Firefox messed around too: came with a "Can't load XPCOM" in other words no working browser on that PC anymore.

 

Tried to fix Firefox by following these instructions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/972465 on another PC, from where I copied Firefox Setup Stub 44.0.2.exe to the sick PC - unfortunately it didn't intsall Firefox, just turning around.

MSI11 isn't shown on Control panel "uninstall or change a program"

 

Could you please elucidate me what exactly I should do.

 

The times before I somehow "uninstalled" MSIE 11 thru "recovery" which brought me back to MSIE10. I did this in "Normal Mode"

 

Regarding your question aboiut Citrix. Citrix is there for a time and I never had problems with it. However you'll tell me if you prefer to see this or other programs rather uninstalled

What I was referring to was Firefox.  I was suggesting that you try to uninstall Firefox in Safe Mode if you were not able to do this in Programs and Features in the Control Panel.  Your copy of Firefox may be corrupted.  If this is the case you should be able to uninstall it, download it and reinstall it.

 

As for IE 11, you would want to roll it back to IE 10.

 

Click the Start button, type Programs and Features in the search box, and then select View installed updates.
 
Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.
 
Right-click [Windows] Internet Explorer 11, click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.
 
This should roll IE back to either IE 10 or IE 9.  After this you should be able to download and install IE 11.
