Hi All,  I have installed VDOS vdm, per a program designed by Joe Shaars. The purpose was to put wp51 dos wordprocessor on a virtual screen in my Windows 8.1 computer.

Click on the icon for VDOS vdm and I get to a blank DOS screen with a c:\ prompt.

If I put in commands for wp or wp51, nothing happens.

If I t ype C:\dir  ---all I get is that the C| directory has -0 files in it.

Same thing happens if I click on the icon WP51 VDOS vdm.

I'd like to find out why my WP51 files didn't import to the program on the setup.

Since Joe Shaars deisgned this, perhaps someone can tell me how to reach him - on a website or an e mail address.

I would appreciate your help.

You could go to https://sourceforge.net/projects/vdos/, or https://vdos.info, or better yet:

http://www.columbia.edu/~em36/wpdos/vdoswp.html, that’s about WP for DOS.

Thanks Joe --- I was hoping you could answer the simple question, but I realize you probably get thousands of them.

I'll have to wade through the 28 pages of instructions for this "simple program" to try to find out why it didn't import my wp51 files.

Cheers!  44 Guy

I don’t follow the threads on this site, so it’s twice just an coincidence that I read your post. You can best consult the mentioned WPDOS site and eventually ask Edward Mendelson for help. He is the guru when it comes to using WPDOS  in Windows, with or without vDos, and always willing to help if someone gets stuck.

Hi Joe, Thanks for the response. I will try getting Ed Mendleson on the website.   Diligent but frustrated!
