Hi

Have 6 month old pc that runs very quick with ssd and win10 , a week ago started to get slow loading webpages and some not at all.

Have used defender which did find something on my wifes user and cleaned it and then nothing after or on  MWB . PC is generally running as fast as ever and fibre is coming in at 40/20mb .

Any suggestions would be great thanks... :scratchhead:

Cheers Kev

( PS this was what Defender found and removed :   TrojanDownloader:O97M/Donoff  )

If you were infected, you should get the system checked out - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/

Thanks for reply , just wondering if its just as easy to refresh or reset win10 as a few things haven't turned out as planned in Win 10 anyway , or do I need to sort the gremlin out first??

Cheers Kev

If you're in a position to reinstall Windows 10, I would do so.

Just a quick update.... Reset for windows 10 went fine just have a local admin and a local standard account.

All offline stuff working as quick or quicker than before.

Then i got onto webpages which still seem to be stubborn to load , intermittently or occasionally not at all ..

Really struggled to login to email in outlook (office 365) but did get there in the end.... very stressed at the end of a Saturday night in front of the screen :killcomp:

Today i remembered i had a spare router but also remembered ethernet cables deteriorating and causing problems on my work pc so tried changing the one between the BT fibre box and the router. ( as ethernet or wireless didnt make any difference to the pc)

This has seemed to improve things but tonight have still had some odd sites struggling to load all content.

I might try the spare router tomorrow night .

Does this seem a strange one or could there be something hardware wise i could check , phone fibre provider or something else ??

Cheers Kev

I think the modem + router is the next logical place to look.

Run Speedtest - http://www.speedtest.net/

Here are my results -

After reading plusnet website i've found that turning off the openreach modem as well as the seperate router in the correct order and back on again seems to have brought my web browsing back to life again !!!

Haven't turned wifi back on yet for other devices but hopefully looking good now party.gif

Thanks for your help guys !

OK . changed router over to spare one and seems to be almost back to normal now for a day and a bit , just occasionally have to kill browser and then reloads straight away.

A little annoying with hours spent on it , but quite nice having clean install of win10 again anyway i spose. :)

Thanks for help

Cheers Kev  :bananas:
