A bug means that doing so will kill the boot and you have no choice but to get a replacement.

Then someone decides to tell everyone to do it because if you do you'll get a retro Apple skin....

Weird thing is that about a couple of hours earlier I was searching for an email and up came an email with no content and which was dated 1 January 1970....?

Seriously, I don't understand why people think setting the date to 1/1/1970 will give them the "Think Different" wallpaper as shown in this fake image:

Apple was only founded in 1976, and the "Think Different" ad campaign was only started in 1997. If you really want that wallpaper, just use this. (You may have to take a screenshot if on an iPad) http://www.iphonewallpapers.me/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Think-Different.jpg

Or, better yet, just make one yourself.
