Yes.  Of course she could.  If she takes her laptop home don't see any reason why she wouldn't be able to access its drive at home.

Why should she have to set up a VPN to access her own laptop?

It occurs to me...that answering such questions...depends on who owns the laptop, whether a domain is involved, and (if employer owned) employer policies about such removal of property and offsite/personal access to business information.  The fact that other employees remote into work access...would force me to ask/answer such potential issues before giving answers.

she has a work laptop which she has permisson too take home and work from home, she wants too be able too access a drive on the server its the accounts drive, it is part of a domain, so some of the girls have workstations that when they use there laptops at home they can remote into there workstations and access the drives just as if there sitting infront of there workstaton, but this lady has no workstation only a laptop which she will have at home, so how can she access drives from home?

As Louis pointed out, there are a number of things that aren't clear.  Does she have the company's permission to remotely access the company's servers?  If yes, why hasn't the company set that up for her?  Why doesn't she go to the company's IT department and ask them to set this up for her?  From what I gather, you aren't working for the company so why are you involved in this?
